Portugal is one of the Schengen Countries with its rising Economy. Portugal Government is set to launch a New Work Visa.
The Portugal Government has recently given “go ahead” signal to the Immigration Office to launch a Work Visa for foreigners who are willing to work in this Schengen State for up to 6 months.
No quota is set for the work visas for foreigners. Infact, authorities has ended the quota limitation for migration purposes.
Minister of Parliamentary Affairs said in a statement that this New Work Visa will allow foreigners to look for jobs in various sectors in the country. Under this new visa, foreign nationals will have 180 days to stay in Portugal and look for any Job Opportunity.
“This will obviously help foreign nationals to seek employment in the country and migration process will be safe and secure”, added the Minister.
The New Immigration bill is approved by the Council of Ministers of Portugal includes not only this New Work Visa, but it also includes the amendments for the Entry procedures, departure Procedures and removal of migrants (under some circumstances) from Portugal.
Portuguese Labour market is facing high labour shortage issue. According to a survey report from World Travel and Tourism Council, approximately 85,000 jobs remain vacant and open for employees in Portugal’s Travel and Tourism Industry by the end of this year.
As Covid-19 hit hard to all developing countries, same is the situation in Portugal. The recovery of the country’s economy is a top most priority for the officials. The country is expecting to create more and more job opportunities for locals and foreign nationals. An approximate number given by the authorities is around 195,000 job opportunities will be available in the next decade.
It is a small developing nation in Europe. Its major economy depends on Tourism Industry. According to a report from EIR Economic Impact Report, around 17% of Portugal’s GDP is in Tourism Industry.
The Government is expecting to have more open job opportunities in Tourism Industry. approx. 3000 to 3500 more jobs will be added and the total is going to be more than a million jobs by the end of next year.
This New Work Visa will open doors to Portugal for Foreign Nationals from EU and Non-EU countries to seek employment in the country, and play their role to build the country’s economy.
