Canada Immigration Express Entry | CRS Point | New TEER NOC Code System | Immigrate to Canada

On July 27th IRCC (Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada) announced a major change for the National Occupation Classification NOC. IRCC was continuously working to implement this change for Canadian Immigration System.

Finally, today on Nov 16th, 2022, IRCC is switching the whole immigration system from NOC 2016 to NOC 2021, which is a TEER Training, Education, Experience and Responsibilities system.

This change will definitely effect all of the Canada’s immigration pathways, streams and of course the Express Entry System. It will cause change in eligibility criteria also for most of the NOC Codes.

For example, under NOC 2016, Express Entry requires work experience of the applicant as mentioned under that National occupation Classification category. But now, under this new TEER system, Express Entry requires not only that specific Work experience but also Education, Training and Responsibilities for that specific occupation.

16 New Occupation Eligible for Canada Immigration Express Entry under the NEW TEER System

1. Pharmacy technical assistants and pharmacy assistants
2. Nurse aides, orderlies, and patient service associates
3. By-law enforcement and other regulatory officers
4. Heavy equipment operators
5. Aircraft assemblers and aircraft assembly inspectors
6. Correctional service officers
7. Sheriffs and bailiffs
8. Transport truck drivers
9. Residential and commercial installers and servicers
10. Payroll administrators
11. Other repairers and servicers
12. Dental assistants and dental laboratory assistants
13. Elementary and secondary school teacher assistants
14. Bus drivers, subway operators and other transit operators
15. Estheticians, electrologists and related occupations
16. Pest controllers and fumigators

3 Occupations – Not Eligible for Express Entry

1. Tailors, dressmakers, furriers, and milliners
2. Program leaders and instructors in recreation, sport, and fitness
3. Other performers

These three occupations are not eligible for Canada Immigration Express Entry System, but will remain eligible for few immigration pathways under the Provincial nominee programs of different provinces of Canada.

Foreign Skilled Workers Program Selection Factor

Selection Factor Points for Foreign Skilled Workers Program (FSWP) of Canadian Federal Immigration is also under effect of the NEW TEER system and all applicants will now onwards stick to the new updated Skill Levels as mentioned in the NOC 2021 TEER system.

For example, if any applicant got some points for a Job Offer, they may still get the same points if their Job Occupation falls under TEER 0, 1, 2 or 3.

Impact of New TEER System on the CRS Score

As mentioned above, the impact of TEER system on Foreign Skilled Workers Program, the CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) Score is now calculated as per new chart of TEER Sysytem.

For example, if any applicant got 20 points for a Job Offer under Skill Level 0, A or B of NOC 2016, they may still get the same points if their Job Occupation falls under TEER 0, 1, 2 or 3.

Instructions for Express Entry Candidates

Now on, Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) requires everyone to follow the New TEER system for their New and in progress Immigration Applications.

People willing to immigrate to Canada and want to apply under the Express Entry Stream of Canadian Immigration must first find their Job Occupation Code in New TEER System and submit the New Code in their Express Entry Profile.

Those applicants who have already submitted their Express Entry profile and are waiting for an Invitation To Apply (ITA) must also follow the new instructions and MUST update their Express Entry profile according to the New NOC 2021 TEER System.

These individuals who are waiting for their ITA from IRCC, must visit the official website of ESDC (Employment and Social Development Canada), find their New 5 digit NOC Code as per their occupation and update it in their Express Entry profile.

And those lucky ones, who have received their ITA (Invitation To Apply) before 16th of November 2022, may submit their application according to the old NOC 2016 System.

Conclusion: Transport Truck Drivers Occupation added in Canada Immigration Express Entry System is considered a BIG Change and will surely help to overcome the Driver’s shortage in the transport industry.
